The exhibit Contemporary Portraits was exhibited for two days in December in an old creamery warehouse in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 2002.

The work in this exhibit reflects my observations of people and the subsequent residue left by their presence. Sized at 4 x 4 inches and with an emphasis on the moment, they are like Polaroid snapshots of a specific person’s moment in time. The portraits often include actual objects collected from that moment, but are abstract in the sense that no part of the human body is represented. Paper as a surface parallels the fragility and immediacy of the people these portraits describe.

These paintings were dispersed to the subjects of the portraits in 2003.
