SKINFUL 2008

The exhibit Skinful was shown at the downtown Kaladi Brothers café during January, 2008 in Anchorage, Alaska.

The nature of skin is a dwelling place in which someone exists for a short period of time. Whether it is the skin they were born with or the skin of another animal, it is essentially being “worn” by its owner(s). The art in this exhibit contains iron-on images of my skin that have been made into canvas bags.

These wearable skins contain imagery from photographs of my skin, which have been layered, colored and altered. This process reflects the conceptual presence of skin as a transitory creature, always renewing, changing and recreating itself.

The skins are designed to continuously experience a fluidity of form. After they are exhibited they will again enter a new form as utility objects, becoming embellished not only with colors, abstraction and design, but with the day-to-day life of the owner.

Each print is $85. You may provide a canvas bag or clothing as a surface for the art, or you can purchase an unframed high-quality print.
